The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Neons - Week 2

Hi everyone,

today I have another neon manicure for the Nail Challenge Collaborative for you. And actually, this is the first time this year that I actually feel that summer has arrived. It's like summer suddenly accelerated from zero to hundred. Two weeks ago, I was still wearing gloves while riding my bike in the mornings, today I'm melting away... (33°C/91°F and no aircon) So! Neons feel really appropriate right now!

Also! Neons sind gerade sooo was von passend!

This one was taken under my daylight lamp

I don't remember what made me think of a tape manicure in the first place. This really made me feel like screaming a couple of times, when I couldn't get the alignment of the tape right. I chose the perfect day: one of those when you're just shaky for no apparent reason. But it still came out quite nicely, I think.

Obviously taken close to my UV light. Glowing all pretty.

This one was taken in the shade when the sun started setting.

I started with white polish as my base and let that dry really long before continuing because of the amount of tape I would be using. I then taped of little squares using striping tape. First vertically, then horizontally. I did one nail at a time here, because time really was of the essence in this case. Next, I grabbed my palette and added a couple of drops of each of the four neon polishes I wanted to use. Using a dotting tool, I applied dots of these neons into the squares I had just taped of.

These two were taken in sunlight, but when the sun was setting. Don't they totally look matte to you?

I remember those neons to be rather slow drying, but they turned out to get tacky really fast. Almost too fast for a tape manicure like this. I ended up with some not so crisp lines because of that. A thick coat of topcoat smoothed it out a little and made it dry faster.

And these two were taken under midday sun. The colors look very different here, haha. Not really neon.

I mostly used Color Club neons. The yellow is a neon by turkish brand Woo, a present from a co-worker. But neons sure are hard to photograph. All these pictures were taken with my cellphone camera, because they came closest to how the colors really look.

I really loved how different this mani looked in different lighting. That's why I included so many pictures this time. I was once more put down as a crazy person at work for this mani though. ^^; Surprisingly not for the colors, though. From a distance it really looked like nail foils...  Oh well.

Naja. :D

What do you think? Was meint ihr?
