The Lazy Days of Summer 8: In the Garden

Hello~

today, I want to show you another mani I did for the Summer Challenge. This time, my inspiration was supposed to be anything "garden". I had a couple ideas for this one and went with a pattern I saw on a Japanese blog a while ago.

Have I ever mentioned that I hate every single white polish I own? All of them need 3 coats, have horrible application and take forever to dry. Why is that!? Is there a white polish that's opaque in one coat?

Anyway, three coats of an unnamed Color Club polish are my base for this manicure. The flowers were painted with acrylic paint. I added a couple sparkles in the center of the flowers and framed my non-flowery nails with a golden glitter polish. That's all there is to this mani. I wanted to keep it rather simple and let the white be awesome on its own.

It was fun painting those flowers. Getting the shape right and all that. I'm not very good at keeping proportions, but I think my flowers turned out nicely this time. I need a better orange acrylic paint though...

While taking pictures, I noticed that my nails were matching my curtains...

What do you think? Do you like white nails? I find them rather interesting at times. Still looking for my perfect off-white too. Suggestions?

I hope you all have a nice day! See you tomorrow~

  1. This is so pretty, I absolutely love the flowers. I like white nails more on other people than I do myself, probably because, like you, I have yet to find a good white polish.

  3. Love the flowers, they look like painted on canvas, very delicate.

  4. Those flowers look awesome, well done! Check out the Orly white polish; that and the Kleancolor are the two I usually pull off the shelf for a white base (I don't like having to do a lot of coats either).

    1. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll keep those two in mind when I place an order overseas next time. :)

  6. Have you ever read Makiiiko-san's post about her very basic french mani?
When I read that I simply thought I NEED to give up for smooth one-coater dreaming white; it says pro's tip is to dilute to make them smooth and workable, and then they give few coats for coverage...I even believe white polish (or pigment) is THAT difficult :/

    1. I don't think I have read that one. From what I know about pigments, white appears to be a tricky one. I'd be fine with 2 coats, but my whites all need 3-4 coats and are quite slow drying. If they were at least quick drying, I could probably deal with all the coats. I guess we have to continue dreaming that this dilemma will be solved some day. :D until then... lots of thin coats!?
