Enchanted Flowers

Hello again!

Today, it's going to be a manicure back from February. I think doing this mani started to break my winter slump, so it's kind of special. Colorwise it's a bit dark, but I don't want to keep it in my repertoire until fall. Yes, I'm ignoring the fact that it felt like winter until yesterday. Today was sunny and I kept thinking that the sky's looking too bright... o.O"

Heute möchte ich euch eine ältere Mani zeigen, die ich etwa im Februar gepinselt habe. Ich denke, diese Mani hat mir geholfen mein Wintertief in Sachen Nail Art hinter mir zu lassen. Farblich gesehen ist es ein bisschen dunkel, aber ich mag die Fotos nicht bis zum Herbst hier rum liegen haben. Jaaaa, ich ignoriere die Tatsache, dass hier bis Vorgestern winterliches Wetter herrschte. Heute war es ja super sonnig... und ich hab den ganzen Tag gedacht, dass der Himmel irgendwie zu grell blau ist... o.O" Traurig, oder?

Anyway, this mani was inspired by some other mani, but I don't remember which anymore. The base is Orly Enchanted Forest, a nice jelly-like dark green polish. I love the cute little butterfly dangle that came with it. On my tips, I applied a bit of OPI Sparcle-icious. Next, I painted the flowers with white and purple acrylic paint. Finally, I picked a golden tip-painter and outlined the flowers. Topcoat and done. So it's a rather simple mani, actually.

Naja. Diese Mani war durch irgendein Bild aus dem Netz inspiriert, aber ich weiß nicht mehr von welchem. Angefangen habe ich mit einem Grundanstrich mit Orly Enchanted Forest, einem wunderschönen Tannengrün. Ich mag den kleinen glitzerigen Schmetterlinganhänger, der an der Flasche hing. Im Anschluss habe ich auf die Nagelspitzen OPI Sparcle-icious aufgetragen. Danach habe ich mit weißer und violetter Acrylfarbe die Blumen gemalt und diese dann mit einem goldenen Tippainter umrandet. Topcoat drauf und fertig. Eigentlich recht simpel.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Stamping - Omake

Hello everyone~

I hope you're having a great weekend! It's sunny today here in Germany! That really saved the weekend a little bit.

Anyway, I finished the May challenge yesterday, but I decided to do one more post for it. I don't know how many of you are accustomed with the term omake. It's Japanese and most would probably know it from manga, where it stands for some extra pages at the end of a volume. So in this post, I quickly want to show you a couple of stamping manicures I did over the past month that I didn't like enough to make them one of the four main posts.

Ich habe meine Mai-Challenge eigentlich gestern abgeschlossen, aber ich habe beschlossen noch ein paar weitere Stampings zu zeigen: jene, die mich nicht so ganz überzeugt haben, von mir aber beendet und auch fotografiert wurden.

This is Manhattan Sashimi Mimi with Winmax #4 (a pink scattered holo from Japan) sponged onto the sides. Then I stamped the star image and smeared it while trying to topcoat it. I like the base shade. I thought I would like essie Go Ginza better, but this one looks better with my skintone. I'm glad I went ahead and bought it.

Hier hätten wir den aktuell erhältlichen Manhattan Sashimi Mimi mit etwas Winmax #4, den ich an den Seiten gesponged habe. Das Schwarz ist der Stampinglack von Konad. Versaut habe ich es durch unsachgemäßen Auftrag des Topcoats... ;)

This one has essence Fortune Cookie as the base, stamped with Kiko 702, one of the magnetic lacquers. I went in with some light yellow and China Glaze Riveting and painted some unnecessary stripes on the side. I shouldn't have done those... Oh well.

Hier dann essence Fortune Cookie mit Stamping mit Kiko 702. Letzterer ist einer von den Magnetlacken, die stampen ganz gut. Alles noch pre-Mirror Lacke... Mit einem Dotting Tool habe ich dann noch etwas gelben und orangenen Lack hinzugefügt, aber ruiniert habe ich es letztlich mit den schwarzen Streifen an den Seiten.

Hm. I forgot what polishes I used for this one. I'm guessing essie Smooth Sailing, but not sure. I only took 5 pictures, which means I was totally unimpressed at that time. But I think the image stamped really well.

Keine Ahnung was ich hierfür verwendet habe. Ich denke es war essie Smooth Sailing, aber ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher. Eigentlich gar nicht schlecht geworden, aber ich fand es wohl doof... ich habe nämlich nur fünf Fotos gemacht.

MNY 500A is the base for this one. A really sheer white with a pink hue. At least three coats. I tried to stamp polka dots here, but the polishes ended up being too sheer and I re-applied the colors with a dotting tool. Which was "against the rules" in my opinion. I wasn't exactly fond of it anyway... and still aren't.

Hier haben wir etliche Schichten MNY 500A. Das hier sollten gestampte Polka Dots werden, aber die Lacke haben nicht so schön gestamped wie gedacht und ich habe die Punkte mit einem Dotting Tool verstärkt. Irgendwie war das gegen die Regeln...

Lastly, China Glaze Outta my Space stamped with white Konad polish. The halfmoons are essence Purple Cherry, a discontinued dark plum jelly, plus round gold glitters from BornPrettyStore. The holo was lost somehow... Not sure if I like Outta my Space with my skintone... hm. This was a pain to photograph because of those glitters. They kept glowing strangely. I originally wanted to post this one for the final mani, but I was really underwhelmed with my pictures in the end. It looked so much better in real life! Really!

Zum Schluss hätten wir eine Mani mit China Glaze Outta my Space. Das Stamping ist mit weißen Konad-Lack gemacht, die Halfmoons mit dem ausgelisteten essence Purple Cherry, auf den ich dann noch die goldenen Glitter geklebt habe. Die Mani gefiel mir gut, ich habe etliche positive Kommentar von Kunden bekommen und eigentlich sollte diese hier die vierte und letzte Mani für die Challenge werden. Leider war das ganze aber nicht wirklich zu fotografieren.

So those are the five manis I finished and took pictures of, but didn't like enough. What do you think of them?

Now, I just finished my first neon mani, the theme for June. I just checked under my UV light... the base turned out not to be a true neon, but I think it's bright enough, haha.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Stamping - Week 4

today, I'm going to complete my second month of the Nail Challenge Collaborative's May challenge: stamping. I tried to do different things for all four weeks, so for the last of the four manicures, I decided to try to recreate one of my earliest inspiration pictures I saved back in 2011: a manicure by Emerald Sparkled.

The inspiration mani is quite special to me. I loved it so much, that I even went ahead and searched for the perfect polishes to do this. In the end, I bought them, but hadn't even swatched them to this day. Kind of sad, isn't it?

So the base for this mani is H&M U Must Have This. I love the name... remember: I bought it just for this mani... like two years ago! Haha... It's a teal leaning sky blue creme bordering on what I imagine a neon blue to be. Application was smooth, but drying time leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Diese Mani habe ich mit zwei Schichten H&M U Must Have This begonnen. Den Lack habe ich ursprünglich extra mal für die Replikation dieser Mani gekauft, aber letztlich bis zu diesem Versuch nicht mal geswatched. Das ist zwei Jahre her. Keine Ahnung, ob es den Lack noch zu kaufen gibt, aber dieses Türkis gefällt mir immer noch sehr gut. Vom Auftrag her prima, aber leider war die Trockenzeit nicht so die beste.

When my base seemed dry, I tried taping of a part to cover it from the brown polish I applied on top. Sadly, that didn't work properly, because the base wasn't really dry even after 30 min. So I painted the brown part by hand using Color Club Rebel Spirit. It turned out darker than I thought. Looks almost black, doesn't it?

Als nächstes habe ich versucht einen Bogen abzukleben, damit das Türkis unter dem Braun erhalten bleibt, aber leider hab ich mir damit Teile vom Lack abgezogen, weil er selbst nach 30min noch nicht ausreichend trocken war. Daher habe ich die braunen Teile letztlich per Hand gemalt. Das Braun, das leider sehr dunkel ausgefallen ist, ist Color Club Rebel Spirit.

After letting that dry, I continued with the stamping using essie Good as Gold and plate A07. There are several mirrored images on this plate and I chose two of them to stamp to create a larger image. As you can tell... my aligning leaves a lot to be desired too. I'll have to practice that. Some parts didn't transfer properly, so I went in with a fine brush to fill in. I finished the whole thing with a thick layer of topcoat.

Mit essie Good as Gold und Schablone A07 habe ich dann das Ornament aufgestempelt. Auf der Schablone gibt es einige gespiegelte Motive, aus denen ich zwei ausgewählt habe, um das größere Muster zusammenzusetzen. Das mit der Symmetrie muss ich aber noch üben. Teile, die sich nicht ganz übertragen ließen, habe ich mit einem feinen Pinsel dann aufgefüllt.


Lastly, here are two pictures of the base on its own. It's pretty (and has been sitting in my untrieds forever), so it deserves some attention.

Und zum Schluss den Basislack noch mal solo. Verdient er irgendwie... nach dem ich ihn so lange auf seinen Einsatz habe warten lassen. 

So that was the stamping challenge. I sure stamped a lot this past month and I think I got a little better at it. It's not as scary anymore. I'm currently waiting for a set of Bundle Monster plates and I can't wait to play around with those. Especially, because my ordered Kiko Mirror polishes are sitting on my desk waiting!

On to the next challenge... which will be neons! So summer has arrived, I guess? Not here in Germany though. :((

Flowers on Kiko 339 (Cornflower)

I don't have a lot to show today, as I'm still working on my pictures. I got a couple of packages in the mail over the past 10 days... So I spent the two sunny days this week swatching and playing with colors instead of looking through my pictures and writing posts. But since it's probably raining again starting tomorrow, I'll have lots of time ;)

One of the polishes I ordered is Kiko 339 also known as Cornflower. It's a nice light blue with a slight purple tinge making it look very soft. Definitely not cornflower blue though. Or at least not the color of my local cornflowers. (I love cornflowers. In a week or so, the cornflowers will probably start blooming here - I'm so looking forward to that!) Just like most of my Kiko polishes, this one was easy to work with, leveled enough for my taste and is quite glossy on its own. This is three thin coats without topcoat.

So, heute habe ich einen bemalten Swatch von Kiko 339, Cornflower, für euch. Ein hübsches Hellblau mit Stich ins Violette. Für mich zwar kein Kornblumenblau, aber trotzdem eine Farbe, die in mein Beuteschema passt. (In einer Woche werden vermutlich hier die Kornblumen anfangen zu blühen - ich freu mich schon tierisch drauf~) Wie die meisten meiner Kiko-Lacke war auch dieser recht unkompliziert. I trage hier drei dünne Schichten ohne Topcoat.

Originally, I wanted to simply swatch this and then move on to some other polish from my order, but just when I finished painting my nails, the sun hid behind clouds for quite sometime and "forced" me to paint flowers on it while waiting for her to show herself. So the pictures above are in cloudy daylight, the ones below in sunlight. I just practised some brushstrokes here. Nothing special. But I like white on blue, so I decided to share it despite it being so simple.

Eigentlich wollte ich Kiko 339 nur swatchen und mir dann den nächsten Lack vornehmen. Leider hat sich die Sonne aber just in dem Moment versteckt, als ich mit Lackieren fertig war. Daher war ich dann leider gezwungen die Mani als Hintergrund für ein paar Pinselübungen zu verwenden, während ich auf die liebe Sonne gewartet habe. Ich mag Weiß auf Blau, daher poste ich es trotz der Einfachheit des Ganzen.

This is white acrylic paint, as usual. Instead of BTGN Top Sealer, I used my selfmade Fairy Dust to seal it and add some sparkles at the same time. It doesn't show up a lot though.

Die Blümchen habe ich, wie immer, mit weißer Acrylfarbe gepinselt. Statt BTGN Top Sealer habe ich aber meinen selbstgemachten Fairy Dust verwendet, um das Ganze auf Glanz zu bringen und dabei noch ein bisschen Glitzer ins Spiel zu bringen. Leider braucht man etwas Fantasie, um es zu erkennen.
